If you are interested in finding out more about The Little Barn, please contact Denise via email in the first instance.
Please describe your interest in The Little Barn in the subject line, for example:
Retreat, Holiday, Residency, Fundraising, Vernissage, Information
It is important that any artist who stays at The Little Barn is a good fit, so therefore, when applying, please let us know about the following things:
Your artist's practice. What is your medium? What themes/stories do you explore? What is your background (formal arts education or self-taught?)
Why do you want to stay at The Little Barn and why would a retreat or residency work well for you?
What you hope to achieve whilst at The Little Barn. This could be as simple as 'space to think' or something more specific, such as editing a body of work, applying for funding etc.
What you could offer the community as part of the residency or retreat (if staying for two weeks or more, we ask that you share your practice with the local community on one day.) This could be in any form that you choose. For example, an illustrated talk; a cup of tea and a chat; a workshop... It should be an event that lasts for at least a couple of hours, but does not need to take up a whole working day.
If you would be happy to donate a fixed fee towards the running costs of the barn and an additional amount of their own choosing to the residency fund (this money will be given to an artist during the following year to help them afford to come.)
If you can manage to deal with the lack of public transport and be able to make your own way to The Little Barn.
